Honourable Dr. Vedprakash Kashirao Patil was born in the small town of Kallam in Osmanabad district on January 2, 1942. He has a brilliant academic record and completed his doctorate degree from Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana. He has been continuously working as a research scientist in the field of horticulture. He served as Director of Extension Education, Associate Dean, College of Agriculture, Parbhani, Vice-chancellor of Marathwada Agricultural University, Parbhani, and Vice-chancellor of Indira Gandhi Krishi Vishwavidyalaya, Raipur.
He also worked as President of the Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi. Dr. Patil has been continuously working as a research scientist in the field of horticulture and has guided 25 students for their . Ph.D. To date, he has published 320 research papers, 125 technical papers, 5 reports, and 18 books. He is the founder president of Shri Dhaneshwari Manav Vikas Mandal and Shri Bhairawnath Nisarg Mandal, which runs more than 50 institutions of higher education. Dr. Patil's leadership has been instrumental in establishing these institutions as a center of excellence in higher education, and his vision has guided countless individuals towards achieving their goals.
Dr. Patil has traveled to various countries for agricultural . education, research purposes, and general higher education. His contributions to the field of horticulture have been recognized both nationally and internationally, and his achievements are a testament to his hard work and dedication. He received a plaque of honor in horticulture for his outstanding work from the Horticulture Society of India and was awarded the prestigious "Vasantrao Naik Horticulture Award" for his exceptional contributions in horticulture. Dr. Patil provided strong leadership to the Marathwada Agril. University, Parbhani, and successfully launched a unique program of human resource development, which was adopted by many SAUs in India. Under his leadership, IGKV, Raipur, became a leading university in the country. Dr. Patil established several colleges and institutions, numbering 180, to impart quality higher education in Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh states.
